@zcorpan How do we read such different things, what do we miss? From all 36 mentions of “self-closing” in the spec I read it not to exist for HTML elements, but for foreign content (which is why it is specified). On top of that, html.spec.whatwg.org/#parse-error-non-void-html-element-start-tag-with-trailing-solidus is explicit about it (my quote).Permalink On twitter.com

@zcorpan If it is a matter of language here, that for one “in HTML” means “elements in HTML” and for the other “elements allowed to be used in an HTML document,” then I do read and mean it as the former—and then perhaps this is something we can make more clear in the spec 😁On twitter.com
