I’m in the “both” camp, too. For HTML/CSS, I still follow the Google HTML/CSS Style Guide (google.github.io/styleguide/htmlcssguide.html). …which may not be surprising, given that I worked on them. …and wrote a book about them (oreilly.com/library/view/the-little-book/9781492048459/). …which I currently polish!
