      If you need a response on a message, it’s useful to have a system for ensuring you receive one. One simple but powerful way is to assign a label (I use “waiting”), and to occasionally check on conversations with that label. For maximum reliability, you need something like this.

        Many calendars, like @googlecalendar, allow to set up several ones. Take advantage of this, especially given that you can set up different reminders for these calendars. My favorite is to work with a “shadow calendar” that accompanies work events, and contains notes for those.

          For email and Slack, use drafts. (Many do—but also many don’t.) With drafts, you break the link between communication writing and timing, and can control its flow (and avoid “email chats”). Yes, some things need immediate sending. But drafts are useful—go through them each EOD.
